In the work of website developers like me, when communicating with clients, the question of choosing a content management system (CMS) arises. Naturally, a convenient “constructor” is selected for the job, but sometimes we are forced to challenge the choice of clients (usually small businesses) who deny that “only kittens are born quickly.” And such entrepreneurs launch websites themselves, responding to paid “quick launch CMS” advertising. The result of a homemade project is an ultra-primitive website that requires modifications and modifications, and users become confused in issues that are not within their competence. After a short correspondence with technical support, sooner or later, they turn to live web designers — agencies or freelancers — for help.

Today, anyone can change the text and photos in a ready-made template to choose from for any business. Moreover, artificial intelligence has long been filling these templates with typical content literally in a minute. In addition, absolutely all website builders contain text that sells them, for example: “create a free website with a little effort.” Unfortunately, this phenomenon devalues ​​the work of web designers in the eyes of potential clients.

In turn, as a self-employed person, I come across non-customized “ready-made templates” even on the websites of agencies providing web design services. For example…

I see that the agency website that accidentally caught my eye is controlled by a “three-letter pop system”, and everything would seem simple… It’s strange when people don’t care how their websites are rated and viewed by users on different devices, whether viewing is convenient, Is everything provided?

“Something might be wrong” — this question is always open to me a priori, this is the motivation to make the design thoughtful in order to accurately hit the target. And of course, with checking the result — testing takes some time. The site developer collects feedback on inaccuracies or suggestions and makes changes to the site.

Just don’t think that I deliberately cut off the edges of the site, this is how it is shown in Safari and Chrome on a large iPad, and this means that the site has not been tested at all. — What would a potential client think about an agency that has such a website…

“A woman put her feet on the head of another woman, and this woman and the other one are laughing” — this is how the eyes read the entire screen when scrolling.

In fact, it’s not funny, and you can say that “This is not a mistake”. — We can bet…

A little lower on the page there is a “caricature” — “A woman scratches the head of another woman”, and it is perceived this way because of a basic disregard for the space between story cards.

If we talk about the cards themselves, then except. headline, they should have a normal introduction that intrigues the reader (user) to click.

The end page of the call to contact the agency should have a greater indentation and not look like a «black hole».

Two forms of sending messages — at the beginning and at the end of the third level page — is like grabbing your interlocutor by the neck while talking to him.

The same is true on the service description page, where each service ends with a “contact” button. I want to close the page because of the annoying treatment.

The checkerboard order of site content placement is suitable for describing a specific service, and looks critical when applied to cards listing all the company’s services. Intuitively, I want to see the capabilities of the company’s service in the form of separate cards, and not such an illustrated narrative. The user will see the entire range of services — 1.5–2 times more in one window!

In my notes I’m not aiming to cause any damage to anyone, it will be a reader’s fantasy. I’m for an open dialogue about the quality of American sites, which are inferior to European ones, so I influence this as best I can. Hope for an adequate attitude to criticism. I will also be happy to tell you how to do better.

A little about design research… It is not enough to simply select the main photographs of the Brand in combination with the logo in order to report to the client about the finished solution. In this work, it is important to emphasize the correspondence of a fragment in a photograph with a graphic identity. These can be repetitions in contours or shapes — this will be the highest aerobatics.

Unfortunately, these photographs completely ignore the very accents that the eyes themselves cling to.

At the end, a comment on the logo would be appropriate. He probably demonstrates the pangs of creativity… Otherwise it is impossible to explain the combined spelling of two words from a complex combination of various alphabet symbols, and two more symbols are combined in the center. The deeper meaning of this decision is not defined and is not perceived as a cherry on the cake.

The solution may be a logo from the handwritten text, from which the individual essence is already manifested in the sketch.
